Following the success of the first Connect eCommerce Summit in 2018, Shopify and uAfrica are back in July for Connect 2019. Along with other major players in the South African eCommerce field, we bring you the industry experts, the insights, skills and knowledge to establish, grow and improve your online store.

Shopify is coming to South Africa for this event and sending representatives to provide valuable insight, while uAfrica’s very own Andy Higgins will be sharing his vast knowledge on the eCommerce space. Also joining them is Warrick Kernes, founder of the Insaka eCommerce Academy, along with other speakers and panel members from Dropstore, TDMC, PayFast, bidorbuy and Google. Hear about eCommerce success stories, listen to a panel discussion involving some of the top players in the industry and network with like-minded people in the exciting field of eCommerce.

Speakers

Andy Higgins

Andy Higgins is the founder of bidorbuy.co.za, Africa’s largest online marketplace and has served on a number of boards including bidorbuy.co.za, payfast.co.za and One Africa Media. Andy has over 19 years’ experience in the Internet industry having been involved in Internet start-ups on 5 continents. Andy is currently the Managing Director of uAfrica.com, a technology company building cloud-based eCommerce tools for Africa, specifically in the area of logistics relating to eCommerce.

Warrick Kernes

Warrick Kernes is a serial eCommerce entrepreneur with 12 years of eCommerce experience in South Africa and Europe. He was the winner of London’s 2009 Young Businessman of the Year Award and the founder of the SA award winning online store Action Gear. In 2017 Warrick founded the Insaka eCommerce Academy and is now dedicated to growing SA’s eCommerce industry.

Cheryl Ingram

Cheryl started her career in Digital Marketing in 2000 at Microsoft in the UK. After a successful 8 year career, she joined ValueClick Inc. as the UK Commercial Director, then returned to South Africa to open ValueClick SA in 2010. At the end of 2012 Cheryl started her journey as an entrepreneur establishing The Digital Media Consultancy - now trading as The Digital Media Collective (TDMC).

Adawale Adejumo

A Nigerian born, South African entrepreneur & professional speaker, Adewale empowers his audience through knowledge sharing as an avid problem solver and researcher. His personal vision is to help as many South Africans as possible build sustainable online businesses. He has been featured on numerous local publications and has spoken locally and internationally on platforms such as TEDx and Google Start-Up Grind for Entrepreneurs.

Amanda Marochko

Amanda is the Market Development Lead at Shopify, assisting in Shopify’s International Growth & Expansion for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Originally from Canada, Amanda has been based in The Netherlands for the last 7 years. Her previous experience includes working for a Google for Entrepreneurs Campus and helping startups scale internationally, working in payments and as a full stack web developer.

Dean Broadley

Dean is a designer, born & bred in the South African city of Cape Town and currently the Founder & CEO of Designing Humans. From comic book character design to physical learning environments, his skillsets are as wide as they are deep. Dean spends his time creating the platform and space for designers to demonstrate their value and elevate the design conversation. What he prides himself on the most though, are the humans he gets to spend his time with. The rest of the time he’s cultivating and contributing to his team culture, believing that every product, experience and change is just a symptom of team culture.

Dylan Piatti

Dylan is a skilled strategist, expert facilitator, presenter and leader, and thrives in converting intent into action. He is a Senior Manager in Deloitte Africa’s Retail, Consumer and Manufacturing Industry, and has over 13 years experience working in start-ups, to SMME’s and corporate. He is Chairman of the Board of the Ecommerce Forum Africa representing over 50 companies. Dylan represents Africa on the Global DTN and actively sits on a number of Advisory Boards. As a qualified futurist, Dylan excels at exploring the art of the possible and navigating complexity to maximise value. He has led multiple global disruptive thinking interventions as a keynote, MC and moderator.
